Text Diff: Compare Two Texts, Find Every Change
This free online text diff compares two texts and shows every added, removed and changed line at a glance, with word-level highlighting inside changed pairs. Switch between side-by-side and unified views, ignore whitespace, case or blank lines, and copy the unified diff when you are done. Everything runs in your browser: your text is never uploaded or stored.
Text Diff Checker
Built for developers comparing config and code, editors reviewing drafts, and anyone double-checking a change before it ships. Paste up to 2 MB per side: additions, removals and changed pairs are marked at line level, and inside changed pairs the exact differing words are highlighted too. Three ignore options (whitespace, case, blank lines) quiet the noise you do not care about, and a stats line counts lines added, removed and unchanged. Fully client-side: no network calls, no storage.

Added Removed Changed
How to use:
- Paste your two texts, or the contents of two files, into the left and right boxes
- Set the ignore options you want: whitespace, case, blank lines
- Read the diff in side-by-side or unified view; the stats line sums up lines added, removed and unchanged
- Copy the unified diff, or fix the changed side and compare again
- Everything runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded or stored
Everything runs in your browser: no network calls, no analytics on your input, nothing stored.
You can also compare two text files online the same way: paste both sides and the changed lines are highlighted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The diff runs entirely in your browser: no network calls, nothing stored, no analytics on your input. Close the tab and the text is gone.
How does the diff handle moved lines?
A line that moved shows up as removed in its old spot and added in its new one. Changed neighbors get paired up, and the word-level highlight inside each pair shows exactly which words moved.
Can I diff two JSON files here?
Yes, as plain text: paste both sides and every changed line is highlighted. The diff is not type-aware, so it cannot ignore key order or formatting on its own. To compare JSON by meaning, normalize both files with the JSON Formatter first, then diff them here; the JSON diff guide walks through the whole method.
What do added, removed and changed colors mean?
Green marks lines that were added, red marks lines that were removed, and a changed pair gets its own highlight with the exact differing words marked inside. That word-level view turns it into a word difference checker: you see which words changed, not just which lines.
Can I compare two text files online?
Yes. The same diff engine works on plain text: paste both versions and you get a unified diff with changes highlighted, plus a stats line.
